The year 1000: how much panic?
A memorable generalisation can become a fact by repetition. This ledger previously repeated one about the first millennium. Without a named claim and source, “all Europe expected the end” is too broad to support a counter.
The evidence to add here would be a contemporary passage, its date and an explanation of what it actually predicted. The absence of that material in this record is not proof that nobody had apocalyptic expectations.
